8 Common Household Products that Can Harm Your Thyroid

The thyroid gland is a small organ in the shape of a butterfly, located at the base of the neck and plays an important role in metabolic processes in the body. Triclosan is a compound that interacts with the hormones produced by the thyroid gland. Moreover, it disrupts the normal development of the reproductive system and metabolism.

Antibacterial products

Some antibacterial soaps, gels and lotions contain triclosan.

It acts as an antibiotic, which controls bacteria that develop on the feet, hands, teeth and other body parts. As mentioned above, triclosan is hazardous to human health.

Heavy metals

Many chemicals that are often used in the home, contain a certain amount of heavy metals – lead, mercury and aluminum. The production of antibodies to combat them, results in autoimmune thyroid disorders, for example Hashimoto’s or Graves disease.


Soy products contain phytoestrogens, which may negatively affect the production of peroxidase.

When the thyroid gland is hindered, the body is unable to process iodine, and this is the only way in which the thyroid gland produces all the hormones.

Another bad thing about soy products is its genetic modification, which also worsens the overall health of people.
